BMX Accessoires
When it comes to buying accessories there are many things that a rider can choose from. Some of the things that you can get for your BMX bike are luxury and other are necessity. There are many things that you should make sure you have for your BMX bikes for safety and maximum functionality. Knowing what these things are and what features you should be looking for in these items is important before you start shopping for accessories.
BMX Wheels
BMX riders that intend to race competitively need to make sure that they have regulation tires. These tires should have durable tread and they should generally be between 20 or 24 inches wide. Before you buy your BMX bike tires make sure to check the competition rules for the size that you need to compete.
BMX Pad Set
BMX racing competitions all require that riders have installed pads on the top tube of the frame, the stem and handlebar crossbar. There are some freestyle BMX riders that don’t use pads on their bike because they feel that the pads get in the way of certain stunts. The pads are an important piece of safety gear that help to protect and cushion a rider should they be involved in an accident or crash. Grips are great as well because they prevent your hands from easily slipping from the handlebars.
BMX Pedals
There are also specific characteristics that a BMX bike pedal should have. BMX bikes should have pedals with a rough texture to help provide traction and keep your feet in place. If your foot slips from your bikes pedal while you are high in the air it can be catastrophic. Generally foot covers or clips are not allowed to be used in most competitive races. Most freestyle BMX riders avoid clips anyway because they interfere with stunts and tricks.
