The difference between BMX and regular bikes

Most bicycle frames are made of stainless steel or another inexpensive metal. BMX bike frames are made using aluminum or chrome steel. Aluminum is used because it won’t rust and it is extremely lightweight. These qualities are an important aspect of the BMX bike because of the way that the bikes are used.

Most BMX bikes use a single chain with no gear shift. The reason for this on the BMX bike is so that riders can pedal easily in multiple directions. BMX bikes can pedal forwards and backwards so riders can perform stunts and tricks more easily.

BMX bikes come standard with a lot of padding. Typically there are three places in which a BMX bike is padded including, the crossbar between the handles, the goose-neck, and the straddle bar. The padding on a BMX bike makes the bike safer when you are performing tricks, stunts and racing it.

There are other safety features that are found on a BMX bike. One of those safety features is found on the stem. The four large bolts on the stem help to increase the BMX bike’s durability and stability in the event of a rough landing.

BMX racing and freestyle is very competitive and it can also be dangerous which is why the bikes are built with increased safety and durability. The lightweight frames and durable components make BMX bikes different from any other bike available. The bikes are made with the notion that they will be used on rough terrain and they are also made with the consideration that they will need to endure a lot of punishment.
